The short version

In shortThe whole policy in five lines.

  • We only collect what you give us, and only what we need to answer you or to help.
  • We never sell or rent personal information, and we never share it for advertising.
  • Card and bank details go straight to Givebutter or Venmo. They never reach us.
  • For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian's consent comes first.
  • Email Info@believefnd.com any time to see, correct or delete what we hold.

The rest of this page is the detail behind those five lines.

Who this policy covers

The Believe Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity. We mentor kids, teens, young adults and adults, and we back that mentoring with practical help for families.

This policy covers believefnd.com and the ways you reach us through it: our contact form, our Christmas assistance request, our volunteer and business partner form, email, and the phone. It sits alongside our Terms & Conditions.

It doesn't cover what happens on somebody else's website. When you're inside the giving form, on Venmo, or signed in on POINT, those companies' own privacy policies apply as well as ours.

In these documents, "we", "us" and "our" mean The Believe Foundation, and "you" means anyone using believefnd.com or getting in touch with us through it.

What we collect

In shortWhat you type, what you tell us, and very little else.

When you send the contact form
Your name, your email address, a phone number if you choose to add one, the topic you pick, and your message. Nothing is required beyond that, and there's no newsletter sign-up hidden in it.
When you send a Christmas assistance request
Your name as the parent or guardian, your email address, a phone number if you choose to add one, and each child's name and age. We use it only to be in touch about Christmas gifts for your children.
When you sign up to volunteer or partner
Sign-up happens on POINT, our volunteer platform. What you enter there (your contact details and whatever the sign-up asks about how you'd like to serve) is held by POINT on our behalf and shared with us.
When you email or call
Whatever you choose to tell us. We're at Info@believefnd.com and (513) 537-4951, Mon–Fri, 9:00am–5:00pm.
When you give
Givebutter collects your name, email address, billing details and gift amount, and passes us the donor and gift information we need to thank you and keep our records. We never receive your full card number. If you give through Venmo instead, we see what Venmo shows anyone you pay: your name on Venmo, the amount and your note.
When you take part in a program
What we need to arrange it and keep people safe: contact details, a parent or guardian's consent for anyone under 18, and notes about the help you've asked for.
When you simply visit
Our website host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and when) to keep the site up and secure. We don't run advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts on our pages.

We don't buy personal information from anyone, and we don't collect anything you haven't chosen to give us.

Why we use it

In shortTo answer you, to arrange help, and to keep honest records.

  • To reply to you, and to follow up.
  • To review a request and work out what would actually help.
  • To arrange mentoring, practical support or seasonal support, and to keep people safe while we do.
  • To process a gift, send a receipt, and keep the financial records a charity has to keep.
  • To keep this website working, secure, and free of abuse.

We don't use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we don't profile anyone for advertising.

Who else sees it

In shortA short list of service providers, and no one else.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We don't trade it, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We share only what's needed, with the providers that make this work:

Givebutter
Giving. It processes payments and sends receipts under its own terms and privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Venmo
Giving, for anyone who prefers it. It processes those payments under its own terms and privacy policy.
POINT
Our volunteer platform. It holds your volunteer account and what you share through it, under its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Resend
Our email provider. Delivers contact form messages and Christmas assistance requests to our inbox and sends you a short confirmation.
Our website host
Serves this site and keeps the server logs described above.

We may also share information if the law requires it (a court order or a legal obligation), or where there's a genuine concern about someone's safety. Where a child's safety is concerned, that always comes first.

Children's information

In shortA parent or guardian is involved from the start, and can stop it at any point.

Our Mentorship Pathway starts at age five, so we do hold information about children. It's given to us by a parent or legal guardian, who consents to their child taking part and stays in the picture throughout. A Christmas assistance request, sent by a parent or guardian, holds each child's name and age and nothing more about them.

  • We keep only what a program genuinely needs to run safely.
  • We never publish a child's name or photograph without written permission from a parent or guardian.
  • Consent can be withdrawn at any time, and participation can end at any time.
  • A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about their child.

If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to get in touch with us for you. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the site. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we'll delete it.

What we expect from parents, guardians and mentors is set out in our Terms & Conditions.

Cookies

In shortNone of ours.

This website doesn't set cookies to track you, and there's no advertising or analytics tracking on our pages.

Two things are somebody else's: the giving form on our Donate page belongs to Givebutter, and volunteer sign-up happens on POINT's own site. Each may set its own cookies inside its own frame or site, under its own privacy policy.

Your browser settings control cookies, including those two, and blocking them won't stop you reading anything here.

How long we keep it

We keep a message for as long as we're in touch about it, and program records while we're working with you and for a reasonable period afterwards: long enough to pick a relationship back up, and no longer.

Donation records are kept for as long as the law requires a charity to keep financial records.

When we no longer need something, we delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Keeping it safe

This site is served over an encrypted connection. Messages from the contact form and Christmas assistance requests go to our team's inbox through our email provider, and only the people who need access have it. Payment details never reach us at all.

No system is perfect, and we won't pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you what happened and what we're doing about it.

Your choices, and how to use them

In shortAsk us to see it, fix it, or delete it, and we'll do it.

  • Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Ask us to delete what we hold, where we're not required to keep it.
  • Ask us to stop contacting you.
  • Change or cancel a monthly gift, from your Givebutter receipt or by asking us.
  • Withdraw consent you've given, including consent for a child's participation.

Email Info@believefnd.com or call (513) 537-4951. We'll confirm we've got it and come back to you as soon as we can. We may need to check you're who you say you are before making a change, especially where a child's information is involved.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under state privacy law. Ask us and we'll help you use them.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top of the page always says when we last did, and if a change is significant we'll say so plainly rather than quietly editing a line.

Contact

Email or call and a real person will answer. We'd rather talk it through than leave you guessing.
